Recently, Azerbaijan’s first 308MWp large-scale new energy solar energy power station was officially connected to the grid to generate electricity.
After the power station is connected to the grid, its annual power generation capacity will reach 500 million kilowatts, which can meet the electricity needs of 110,000 households. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, the successful completion of this project is an important milestone in green energy cooperation between China and Azerbaijan, injecting strong impetus into local green and low-carbon development.
Azerbaijan is one of the first countries to support the "Belt and Road" initiative and has cooperated with China in many fields such as transportation, logistics, and infrastructure. In the context of global carbon neutrality, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy expects to increase the proportion of renewable energy installed capacity to 30% by 2030, and begins to actively seek cooperation with Chinese new energy companies to accelerate economic diversification and reduce oil and natural gas dependence.
As Azerbaijan's first large-scale renewable energy power station, the project is located in Gobustan District, about 60 kilometers southwest of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, covering an area of approximately 5.5 million square meters. The power station adopts an innovative 8.85MW large sub-array design to further increase power generation, reduce investment costs, and ensure safe and efficient power generation.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the grid connection ceremony: "Last year we participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of this photovoltaic power plant. Today, we are very proud to see that in a short period of time, Gobustan "It's a remarkable achievement to turn this open area into a source of green energy."
