Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) said the country had awarded 119 bids for 259MW of rooftop solar PV projects in the latest government tender.
Like several previous tenders in Germany, the rooftop solar tender was oversubscribed by 1.7 times. According to the Federal Network Agency, a total of 209 bids were submitted for a total capacity of 434MW, setting a record for rooftop solar tenders.
The winning bids ranged from €0.0745/kWh to €0.0969/kWh, with a weighted average price of €0.0904/kWh (about $0.095/kWh). This is slightly higher than the average price of €0.0894/kWh in the previous rooftop PV tender, which awarded 260MW of capacity.
Among them, the North Rhine-Westphalia region won the most capacity, with 21 projects and 58MW, by Bavaria with 21 projects and 48MW. Baden-Württemberg closed with 24 MW in nine projects.
The next tender for rooftop solar PV systems will be held on February 1, 2025.
France awards 253 MW of rooftop solar projects
Neighboring France awarded 253 MW of rooftop solar projects in its latest tender.
The eighth rooftop solar tender awarded 72 projects at an average price of €99.95/MWh (about $105.2/MWh). This was nearly €2 lower than the average price of the seventh tender held in July. However, the awarded capacity was an increase compared to the approximately 180 MW awarded in the previous round.
Despite the increase in installed capacity, the latest rooftop PV tender ended up being undersubscribed as it aimed to award 300 MW of installed capacity.
Nouvelle-Aquitaine was the region with the most winning capacity, with 12 projects over 60MW. It was by Occitanie with 12 projects and 33MW, while Centre-Val de Loire closed with 7 projects with 32MW.
Last month, the results of France's latest ground-mounted solar PV tender were released, awarding nearly 1GW of installed capacity. Unlike the rooftop solar tender, the latest ground-mounted solar tender was slightly oversubscribed.
In addition to the rooftop tenders in France and Germany, Italy recently held an agri-solar tender, which released 1.5GW of agri-solar capacity. A total of 540 projects were awarded, half of which were projects with a capacity of less than 1MW.
